I am excited to announce that I will be running for re-election in 2024. I am enormously proud of my office’s accomplishments, but we have more work to do. We professionally manage millions of dollars of stormwater improvements every year to reduce flooding throughout the county with the Lake County Commissioners (Drainage Board); we continue to exceed the number of state mandated survey marker inspections; and we professionally manage Lake County’s MS4 clean water program, and GIS online mapping system. To increase transparency, I have also made more records and information available online to the public.
I have streamlined processes in the office by cross-training and reducing staff through attrition. This has saved taxpayers’ money while providing an even better service to the public. We have more work to do including an update of the Lake County Stormwater Ordinance to improve stormwater efficiency and building additional stormwater infrastructure improvements.
In addition to my duties as Surveyor, I am honored to serve as the Lake County Plan Commission President; the Governor’s appointment to the Indiana Drainage Task Force; Northern Indiana Director of the Indiana Association for Floodplain and Stormwater Management (INAFSM); the NIRPC Environmental Management Policy Committee Chairman; the Vice-Chairman of the Kankakee River Yellow River Basin Development Commission; and as a member of the National Association of Counties – Environment, Energy and Land Use Committee.
As a professional civil engineer and attorney, I am uniquely qualified to serve as the Lake County Surveyor. I personally review all project designs and I monitor construction in the field. I truly enjoy serving the residents of Lake County. I am asking for their support in May so I can continue my vision for the Lake County Surveyor’s Office.
